Different locations, shared resources and goals
Faculty and staff currently work at two locations – San Diego (La Jolla), California and Orlando (Lake Nona), Florida. We operate as an integrated organization, where scientists and supporting staff collaborate to solve problems regardless of geographical location. We share resources, both technological and operational, to achieve our goals.
We practice a style of scientific inquiry that emphasizes collaboration as a cornerstone of our strategy, yet celebrates the individuality and autonomy that nurtures creativity. We recognize that the great unmet medical challenges of today demand a team-based approach and we meet those challenges by bringing together the talents of biologists, chemists, biophysicists, computer scientists, engineers, and support staff in a symphony of scientific synergy.
Our emphasis on collaboration has allowed Sanford-Burnham to rise to the upper echelons of life-science research organizations, currently ranking among the top four most highly funded research institutes in the United States (according to National Institutes of Health [NIH]) statistics).
